We Need Your Input


The Division of Retirement and Benefits is conducting a survey of employers to help determine a reasonable cutoff date to request verifications of service and salaries based on employer-maintained employee records. The Division would like to decrease research work for employers by setting a date that recognizes when records are no longer available.

To complete our evaluation, we need your feedback about your current payroll record retention practices. Please complete our one-page Employee Record Retention Survey to help us with our assessment. The results of the survey will be shared in the April Employer News.

Fiscal Year 2016 Employer Contribution Rates Available


The Alaska Retirement Management Board (ARMB) has established Fiscal Year 2016 (FY16) employer contribution rates for the PERS/TRS Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution Retirement (DCR) Plans.

Please refer to the FY16 Employer Contribution Rates on our website for complete information. The link to the PERS and TRS FY16 Employer Rates is under Resources on the Employer Services web page.

The Division will be sending rate letters to each employer electronically by the end of April. The rates will be effective for pay period end dates between July 1, 2015, and June 30, 2016.

For additional information regarding the actuarial determined rates, please refer to the June 30, 2013 PERS and TRS actuarial valuations which determined the fiscal year 2016 rates:

Employee Consents


IRS Notice 2015-15 appeared in the March 2nd issue of the Internal Revenue Bulletin. This notice contains a proposed revenue procedure which will provide guidance to employers on requirements for employee consents used to support a claim for refund of employment taxes. It permits electronic consents and requests comments about the consent process and requirements.

Comments on this revenue procedure may be submitted to the IRS on or before May 31, 2015. Additional information and the complete notice can be found here.
