Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers, accounting for almost half of all cancers in the United States. Health Hero: Michael Brown

Michael Brown

Michael Brown was diagnosed with diabetes last July. He weighed 324 pounds at the time, down from a lifetime high of about 350 pounds a little over a year ago. Remarking on his condition, Michael said, “The doctor didn't hold out a lot of hope. My glucose was 336 (100 is the threshold), and my Hemoglobin A1C was 13.6 (5.5-6.0 is considered normal and safe).” Today, Michael weighs 216 pounds, his fasting glucose runs in the low 80s, his A1C is 5.6, and no longer needs medications to manage his diabetes.
