Fiscal
Year 2017
The
Division of Retirement and Benefits will apply Fiscal Year 2017 PERS and TRS
employer on-behalf funding, provided by House Bill (HB) 256 (Section 28), to
payrolls received in our office by July 15, 2017. Fiscal Year 2017 covers
payrolls containing payroll end dates from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.
After the July 15,
2017, cutoff has been reached and all applicable payrolls have been processed,
the Division will complete the annual on-behalf funding true-up. We anticipate
sending employer on-behalf year-end statements that include the true-up by
mid-August 2017 via email.

Due to issues regarding the completion of the new Employer
Services reporting tool until late September and the need to provide adequate
time for employers to test and convert to the new reporting system, the rollout
of the Alaska Public Employees’ Deferred Compensation Plan to political
subdivisions, public organizations and school districts has been moved to
January 1, 2018. The Division will, however, begin contacting employers
through Division representatives and our recordkeeping partner, Empower Retirement
Services, about the provisions of the plan in preparation for joining the
plan.
The
Alaska Retirement Management Board (ARMB) has established Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18)
employer
contribution rates for the PERS/TRS Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined
Contribution Retirement (DCR) Plans.
Please
refer to the FY18 Employer
Contribution Rates on our website for complete information. The link to the
PERS and TRS FY18 Employer Rates is under Resources on the Employer Services web page.
For questions about employer contribution rates,
please contact Christina Maiquis at (907) 465-1845 or via email at Christina.Maiquis@alaska.gov.
