Today at 11 a.m. - Free seminar for journalists on covering suicide
ANCHORAGE — If you're a journalist in Alaska, chances are you'll be covering suicide. The state has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. The rate among young Alaska Native males is 14 times the national average. So how do you cover suicide responsibly?
The Division of Behavioral Health is sponsoring a free seminar Tuesday, June 7, that you can attend from your desk to help answer that question. A national expert on suicide prevention will give an overview of recently updated national guidelines, developed with the help of journalists.
You're invited to attend, and please forward this message to any other Alaska journalists you think might be interested.
