Dear Alaskans,
Thank you for your patience as we continue to protect our communities against COVID-19, and we’re grateful to share the following updates with you.
More appointments will be made available Thursday
Remember, COVID-19 vaccine is still very limited in supply. Please confirm that you are eligible for an appointment before you contact a provider. On Thursday, January 28, many COVID-19 vaccine providers will begin to accept appointments for vaccine we’ll receive in February:
- Appointments will be opened for scheduling by vaccine providers throughout the day, with a bulk of appointments added around noon.
- To find a COVID-19 vaccine provider visit covidvax.alaska.gov or call 1-907-646-3322.
Before contacting a provider, please confirm you’re eligible
We’re still in the process of working to protect health care workers and Alaskans ages 65 and above.
Those eligible to receive vaccine are:
- Alaskans 65 years old and above,
- Long term care facility staff and residents and,
- Most health care workers (see eligibility criteria for specifics at covidvax.alaska.gov)
Vaccine managed by the Alaska Tribal Health System, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the U.S. Department of Defense may have different eligibility criteria.
Unfortunately, we are not yet ready to vaccinate other Alaskans at this time. We are vaccinating people 65 and older because 70% of deaths from COVID-19 have been in this group of just 10% of Alaskans. Thank you for your patience as we protect our vulnerable elders.
To learn about eligibility, please visit covidvax.alaska.gov or call 1-907-646-3322.
Ways to volunteer
We frequently hear from people who are interested in volunteering. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer with vaccine efforts, you may complete this brief online survey. If opportunities are available in your community, someone will contact you with more information.
Resources to share
The CDC recently published several communications toolkits that may be of interest to those supporting outreach in their community. Thank you for your work.
