Civil Rights Training
DEED will hold a Civil Rights for Child Nutrition Training session today, June 16, Monday at 2:30 pm. This training is intended for CACFP and SFSP sponsors who have not already taken DEED’s Civil Rights training on or after 1 July 2024.
This training will be delivered at a time of emerging changes to civil rights requirements in federal child nutrition and education-related programs. As a result: • This training will not be recorded; recording this training, including the use of AI assistants, is prohibited • Slides from this training will not be disseminated • Program staff who have already completed DEED's Civil Rights Training on or after 1 July 2024 should not participate in this training • This training may not be used to satisfy professional standards or training requirements for the school nutrition programs (including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program, or Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program)

We will host a new civil rights training in mid-to-late July that will satisfy requirements for all child nutrition programs.
Webinars
New CORE Online Trainings
USDA FNS would like to announce the launch of two new CORE online courses for CACFP sponsoring organizations. CACFP Operational Resources and Education, or CORE, is a USDA-funded training initiative developed in collaboration with MH Miles Company to provide practical CACFP sponsor-focused trainings and resources for State agencies. The two new courses are Corrective Action and Trainer Success. The CORE CACFP Corrective Action course explains the purpose of corrective action and provides sponsoring organizations with practical tools to assist in determining the root cause of noncompliance, developing an effective corrective action plan, and evaluating corrective action plans submitted by their facilities. The CORE CACFP Trainer Success course is an effective resource for sponsoring organizations to learn the trainer competencies necessary for delivering effective CACFP training to key staff within their organizations and to facility key staff.
Organizations can learn more about CORE and available resources by visiting https://www.core-cacfp.com/. To register for CORE online courses directly, complete the following steps:

- Complete the registration to establish a new account.

The following are common links to their main webpages:
Unplug and Play
Summer is nearly here, and the school year is winding down. The temptation to swap class time for screen time is strong, but it’s not what children need most. That’s why our partners at Read Aloud 15 Minutes have created summer materials designed to spark creativity and encourage physical activity without relying on screens.
