Final Rule on Partnerships With Faith-Based and Neighborhood Organizations
On July 1, 2024, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) distributed initial guidance on implementation of the final rule Partnerships With Faith-Based and Neighborhood Organizations, 89 FR 15671. FNS included in that distribution guidance and a model written notice to beneficiaries, released by the USDA Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (OASCR).
Message for Religious Schools: This message is to inform you that USDA’s Notice to Beneficiaries and Prospective Beneficiaries guidance/material is hereby retracted as to religious schools and institutions. As appropriate, we will send you USDA’s forthcoming clarification of this guidance/material. If you have any questions, please contact eed.cnp.cacfp@alaska.gov.

The Alaska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides resources, advice, and assistance that help small businesses grow and create measurable economic impact throughout Alaska. Assistance is provided by experienced business advisors and experts through on-site and/or online interactions or training, and at no cost to clients.

Medical Statements, Milk Substitutions & Special Diets
Have you ever received a parent's or doctor's note describing a meal modification or substitution to serve a child or adult in your care? Maybe you have felt confused or overwhelmed on how to modify the menu to ensure foods are safe to serve to a participant with a disability. This NCA webinar will help you:
1. Learn when you need to have a medical statement to serve safe, reimbursable foods in the CACFP.
2. Identify creditable and non-creditable milk substitutions in the CACFP, including what documentation you may need.
3. Understand how to tailor foods for special diets, like vegetarian, pureed, and gluten-free diets.

CACFP Vegetable & Fruit Snack Menu
Snack time is the perfect time to offer vegetables and fruits to the children in your care! Fresh, frozen, canned, or dried — vegetables and fruits add color, texture, fiber, vitamins, and minerals to the menu. Including these nutritious gems at snack will help children develop healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.
The Association of State Public Health Nutritionists' (ASPHN) Fruit & Vegetable Council developed a Vegetable & Fruit Snack Menu to help providers more easily plan, prepare and provide healthier snack options for children.This menu contains a month’s worth of snack ideas featuring a variety of vegetables and fruits, including a variety of cultural recipes.
