SFSP 01-2024 Clarification of Allowable Flexibilities for Child Nutrition Programs Experiencing Milk Supply Shortages– This memorandum provides state agencies with information about existing authority related to schools and other child nutrition program (program) operators experiencing inadequate milk supply. FNS encourages state agencies to use this authority when needed to support program operators impacted by the current milk packaging challenges.
Revised policy memos:
SFSP 01-2016 Procuring Local Meat, Poultry, Game, and Eggs for Child Nutrition Programs – REVISED– The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has received several questions related to buying local meat, poultry, seafood, game, and eggs; this memorandum seeks to clarify the regulatory requirements related to food safety and answer specific questions related to these products with a series of questions and answers included as an attachment. FNS is updating questions six, seven, and eight on page eight (indicated with asterisks) to better reflect opportunities to access domesticated and wild game animals including buffalo as well as other minor technical updates throughout.
SFSP 02-2024 Crediting Tofu and Soy Yogurt Products in the School Meals Programs, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Food Service Program (Revised November 2023)– This memorandum explains how to credit tofu and soy yogurt in the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Food Service Program. This memorandum supersedes SP 53-2016, CACFP 21-2016 Crediting Tofu and Soy Yogurt Products in the School Meal Programs, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Aug. 8, 2016.
SFSP 05-2017 Summer Food Service Program Questions and Answers - Revised - This guidance updates previously issued Questions and Answers to clarify Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) requirements, as found in 7 CFR Part 225, FNS Instruction 796-4, and other official federal program guidance. It supersedes SFSP 05-2017, Summer Food Service Program Questions and Answers, (Sept. 28, 2023).
