The Alaska State Museum is currently accepting entries for its upcoming solo artist exhibition series. Five Alaska artists will be selected for the series, which runs fall of 2024 through spring of 2026. Selected artists will be announced after October 2023.
Artists are strongly encouraged to develop new work for this opportunity (you may use existing work in your application). Applications will be reviewed by a committee of museum staff and artist professionals. Selections will be based primarily on the quality of the submitted work, on the artistβs record of professional activity (artistβs resume), and the exhibition proposal (letter of intent).
To view previous exhibitions, including solo artist exhibitions, see Online Exhibitions.

Alaska Positive is the statewide juried photographic exhibition organized and toured by the Alaska State Museum.
Now in its 53rd year, Alaska Positive continues to encourage photography as an art form in Alaska. Guest juror Camille Seaman believes βart is not only important; it is necessary for us to communicate what is happening with our planet.β Her photographs concentrate on the fragile environment of the polar regions, providing the message: βwe are of this Earth, and we only get one.β
Alaska Positive opens at the Alaska State Museum on December 1, 2023 and runs through March 9, 2024. The exhibition will then travel to museums throughout Alaska.
