2023 NAEP Long-Term Trend Assessment Results Released
Join the National Assessment Governing Board and the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) on June 21 at 9:00 am Alaska time for the release of the 2023 NAEP Long-Term Trend assessment results for 13-year-olds — the final set of results from NAEP assessments administered during and directly after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Results will include national-level mathematics and reading scores as well as insights into students’ pandemic-era learning experiences.
The release event will be held at Frederick County Public Schools’ Oakdale High School in Ijamsville, Md. Following a presentation of key findings from NCES Commissioner Peggy Carr, teachers and students will share their reactions to the results and reflect on what’s needed to accelerate post-pandemic learning in a conversation moderated by Marty West, academic dean and professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and member of the National Assessment Governing Board.
The event will be livestreamed, register here.

DEED’s eLearning program now offers two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to educators who hold current five- or ten-year Alaska teaching, administrative, or special services certificates. Learners will earn one CEU per 15 hours of eligible coursework completed. All eLearning courses are free.
The newest CEU course bundle focuses on trauma-engaged practices in schools. The courses provide information and resources on topics such as trauma-sensitive schools, self–care for educators, stress and anxiety in schools, classroom practices and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
The cost of each CEU applied toward renewal is $50, however the Department is waiving the fee for the first 400 educators to complete the CEU.
