The repaving of International Boulevard is underway! New blacktop is another exciting improvement of AC Transit’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project: a first-of-its-kind bus transit service beginning December 2019.

International Boulevard between 42nd Avenue and 51st Avenue

October 22 – November 6

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

International Boulevard between Havenscourt Blvd. and 78th Avenue

October 24 – November 8

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

International Boulevard between 78th Avenue and Auseon Avenue

October 26 – November 12

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

International Boulevard between Auseon Avenue and 97th Avenue

October 30 – November 14

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

International Boulevard between 97th Avenue and 103rd Avenue

November 1 – November 16

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

International Boulevard between 103rd Avenue and Durant Boulevard

November 5 – November 20

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM



  • The existing asphalt surface will be completely excavated and new asphalt will be installed
  • Nearly 10 miles of street pavement will be replaced curb-to-curb
  • The new pavement will have a life expectancy of 20 years
  • Motorists will continue to have street access to homes and businesses during repaving
  • A revitalized road will help move people faster through one of the Easy Bay’s busiest regions

BRT will operate in a dedicated bus-only lane from downtown Oakland to San Leandro BART, primarily along International Boulevard/ East 14th Street. When completed in December 2019, all new hybrid-electric buses will offer service at least every seven minutes during peak hours! Visit to learn more.
