Reform Alert # 26 – TRO Still In Place – Elections Not Implemented

Action by the Supreme Court on Friday, November 9, denied a request to immediately hear the state’s appeal to stay the Temporary Restraining Orders (TRO). This means that the TROs are still in place and the election window is still open.

What does that mean in regard to pension and retirement healthcare elections?

The pension and healthcare elections already made by members cannot be implemented until the window is closed and an implementation date has been determined. Once these dates are created, ORS will send a notification that includes the window closing date, the implementation date, and the date you can expect to receive a list of your employees and their elections. This list will only be sent to your reporting unit once the TROs are lifted and the relevant dates established.  Please continue to support your employees. They can still make or change their pension and retirement healthcare elections in miAccount.

What does that mean in regard to the new reporting file format changes?

The new reporting file format will be implemented as planned for December 1, 2012. The new file format changes how you report Pension Plus members prior to September 4 and any new members, who first worked on or after September 4, 2012. The new file format is required for reporting beginning with all reports submitted December 1, and after.

Access to Testing Site

A test environment is available only through November 16, 2012. This site allows your reporting unit to submit and process reports after you or your service providers have made the necessary programming changes. (See Reform Alert #13 – 2012 MPSERS Reform Requires System Changes and Instructions for testing are available at Testing Instructions for All RU’s.)
