Why Do You Serve?

Tell Your Story! The Public Employees Roundtable (PER) is soliciting videos of current and former public employees to help educate the public and Congress about why you choose/chose to serve in the public sector as a part of Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW).

To participate, create a video from two minutes not to exceed five minutes in length for posting on YouTube. Videos can be professionally created or made via your phone or other recording device. Create an individual video or one with a team of other government employees. Please remember, if you are a government employee, these videos should be made on personal time.

Answer as many of the questions below as you can in 2‐5 minutes:

 What drew you to public service? Was there a particular person or event that sparked your interest?

 If you left a private sector career to serve, what spurred that decision?

 If you are a long‐time public servant, why do you continue to serve?

 What accomplishment are you most proud of in your public service career?

 What advice would you offer to a young person thinking about entering public service?

 If you were speaking directly to the American people, what is the most important thing you’d want them

to know about public service and/or public servants?

 Who in public service do you most admire? Why?

Once you create your video, please email it to publicemployeesroundtable@gmail.com. Videos will be posted on the Public Employee Roundtable (PER) YouTube channel, proudly sponsored by Federal Times, and promoted on PER’s Facebook and Twitter feeds

Join us for Happy Hour

Thanks to everyone who came out for last month's TCDC Continuing Resolution Happy Hour at The Speak Easy in Living Social. We had a great turnout and I hope you enjoyed the drinks, networking, and socializing with rising young professionals throughout the interagency, non-profit, and private sector.

The groundhog may have lied to us, but lets rejoice that Spring has finally arrived and each day is getting warmer and brighter!

This month a brand new Penn Quarter restaurant in hosting us: Del Campo, Victor Albisu's ode to Peruvian and South American cooking. Lots of grilled meats, plenty of ceviche and drinks like pisco sours will be available.

Come join the Thursday Connect Network as we host our next monthly happy hour.

When: Thursday, 25 April 2012, from 5:30-9:00 PM
Where: Del Campo (Formerly PS7) 777 I St NW, by the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro
