MEP Advisory Board Committee on Technology Acceleration (ABCTA)

Over the last six months, the ABCTA along with NIST MEP and a Center Leadership Team on Technology Acceleration, have worked together to provide the MEP Advisory Board guidance on how to shape MEP’s Technology Acceleration strategy and activities. We will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday, June 10 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT to discuss the newly approved implementation plan and background report, recommendations, and next steps. We would encourage you to review both the Implementation Plan and Background Report in advance. MEP Federal Program Officer

Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative (CEMI)

Southeast Regional Summit

As part of CEMI, the Department of Energy organizes regional summits around the country to expand its partnership, share resources and successes, and refine its strategy to boost U.S. competitiveness in clean energy manufacturing. To this end, the CEMI Southeast Regional Summit will be held on July 9th in Atlanta, GA and will convene leaders from industry, academia, and government. CEMI welcomes all private- and public-sector stakeholders interested in identifying opportunities that strengthen regional and national clean energy manufacturing competitiveness to attend the event. Coal Reliant Communities

Innovation Challenge

Is your county or region experiencing economic challenges due to the contraction of the coal industry?  The National Association of Counties and the National Association of Development Organizations Research Foundation, with support from the U.S. Economic Development Administration announced the second of three workshops being hosted to support counties and regions impacted by the contraction of the coal industry.  The goal of each workshop is to help boost the innovative potential of coal-reliant counties and regions seeking to grow and diversify their economies. The application to attend the workshop is now open and will remain open until Friday, July 17th at 5:00 p.m. EDT. For more information, click here.

 


Skills on Purpose

Creating the Next Generation of Manufacturers

The Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) is hosting a series of “Skills on Purpose—Creating the Next Generation of Manufacturers,” panel discussions between national, state, and local leaders from government, businesses, colleges, and schools.  The second webinar "State and Local Policy and the Implementation of Industry-Education Partnerships," scheduled for Friday, June 29 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, will describe ways that state governments can serve the work of local partnerships, helping effective approaches to spread, and magnifying the impact on growth and employment. The Commerce Secretary participated in a roundtable discussion about how to best support U.S. competitiveness in the manufacturing sector and highlighted that the strength of the American manufacturing sector is closely tied to the ability to innovate.

PA House Acknowledges NEPIRC's Impacts Upon Manufacturing Community

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives recently acknowledged the statewide Industrial Resource Centers for their positive impacts upon the manufacturing community by declaring May 12, 2015 as “Industrial Resource Center Appreciation Day” across the Commonwealth.
