MEP Advisory Board on Technology Acceleration (ABCTA)

Over the last six months, the ABCTA and NIST MEP staff along with a Center Leadership team conducted research and analysis to inform ways to increase MEP Centers’ engagement with technology acceleration services for clients. At the Advisory Board meeting and the System Update meetings in Phoenix on May 19-20, Board members reported out on that research with a background report, and implementation plan which was presented and approved by the full Board. Both documents are posted on the MEP website, click here to view them. We will host a webinar for MEP Centers to discuss the Implementation Plan, focusing on the recommendations adopted and next steps. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, June 10 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT, and it will be recorded and posted on MEIS.

Webinar details will be sent out shortly. If you have questions, please contact Clara Asmail (Clara.Asmail@nist.gov) or Ben Vickery (Ben.Vickery@nist.gov) for more information.

MEP Success Story

FuzeHub Farm to Fork Forum Yields Results for NYS Food Manufacturers and Growers

In October of 2014, FuzeHub in collaboration with High Tech Rochester (Finger Lakes Region NYMEP Center) held a Farm to Fork Solutions for food and beverage manufacturers. Solutions Forums are half-day events held across the NYS - free to manufacturing companies. The forums have a proven track record of providing in-person meeting opportunities with a select group of business and technical experts to analyze, problem solve and identify solutions to meet specific company needs.

The Forum attracted aspiring food entrepreneurs, small-business wanting to launch a food product, food manufacturers who want to grow their businesses, and growers/producers. Leveraging FuzeHub’s extensive expertise and resource network, four companies have been highlighted as success stories from the forum. These companies were connected to NYS resources and reported several growth outcomes as a result of the forum. FuzeHub’s on-line portal and tracking system was able to monitor, analyze and report the following successful connections that resulted in funding of equipment, supply chain and business growth impacts:

Buy America Transit Supply Chain Forum
Salt Lake City, Utah

NIST MEP, Utah MEP, and the Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration will be hosting an upcoming Buy America Transit Supply Chain Forum in Salt Lake City, on June 24, 2015.

The objective of the Transit Supply Chain Connectivity Forum is to bring large transit OEMs and smaller, qualified and interested U.S. manufacturers together in an effort to facilitate the use of a higher percentage of domestic suppliers in transit products and systems. The Forum will offer a venue for smaller manufacturers to learn what products are needed and find out more about investments they need to consider when entering the transit industry.

As part of the Forum, time will be allocated for ten-minute introductory, private meetings between participating OEMs and prospective suppliers. Participating suppliers can include both current transit industry suppliers, and potential new suppliers. These are not intended to be deal negotiation meetings – these are private introductory meetings to discuss the basics of participating in OEM supply chains.

This event will be held in conjunction with the American Transportation Association’s Rail Conference at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, UT.

Registration is $25. Please click here to register.

For more information about Buy America Transit Supply Chain, please visit the Next Generation Transportation Supply Chain page or contact Samm Bowman (samm@nist.gov| 301-975-5978).
