The Summer Learning
Program Quality Intervention (SLPQI) pilot is an opportunity to improve summer
program quality through access to a free external program
quality assessment, coaching and training for 15 summer programs. Past years
the Sprockets Network has built upon a continuous improvement cycle that
met the needs of school year OST programs. However, incorporating summer quality
work hasn't been tackled on a network level. Sprockets was selected
as one of two cities (Denver) for a two year pilot of a network approach to
quality improvements for summer. A partnership between the National Summer
Learning Association (NSLA) and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program
Quality (Weikart) has resulted in an adapted version of our familiar YPQA that
incorporates aspects unique to summer, along with an improvement cycle that
meets the needs of busy summer programs. See the full story.
Are you interested in engaging your youth more in your program evaluation? Sprockets, in partnership with the Youth Work Learning Lab at the University of Minnesota and the Wilder Foundation's Youth Leadership Initiative, is sponsoring a training and a year long community of practice that will help your program engage youth in evaluation including the YPQA. See more details and how to apply.
