Serving Our Clients

Sonja Youthbuild client

Minnesota Youthbuild offers high school dropouts and at-risk youth a career path focused on construction training, soft skill and leadership skill development, contextual learning, and support services to help youth become productive adults. It's great investment in our future workforce: For every dollar invested in this program, two dollars are returned to the state. Sonja learned many aspects of the construction trade through Youthbuild in north Minneapolis. She also learned to work effectively in good and bad weather and developed good teamwork and communication skills. Sonja earned her diploma, began work as a teaching assistant -- and is now enrolled at St. Paul College in their nursing program. And to help students determine which fields offer them the best prospects for jobs and good pay, DEED is participating in a new initiative.
