If you did not expect the email even from a friend or your CEO, do not open the attachment (or link). Call the sender, confirm the reason for the email, and ask the sender to embed the attachment as text in the email.
Malware and viruses change all the time and anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewalls are not always able to identify the malicious code.
