Be prepared for winter emergencies

Emergency supplies on a table, including a radio, torch, batteries, water containers and tinned food.

Storms and other emergencies can disrupt the essential services you rely on – including your phone, water, power and internet.

Taking a few simple steps now can help you cope if essential services are disrupted.

If you or someone you know might need extra support during a gas, electricity or water outage, the Priority Services Register may be able to help. It’s a free service that helps utility companies identify households that may need extra assistance.

Lots of households are eligible, including those of pensionable age, people with long-term illnesses and families with children under 5. Visit thepsr.co.uk to check eligibility and find out how to sign up.
