Carymoor celebrates 30 years with anniversary open day
Carymoor Environmental Trust will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special Open Day on Saturday 8 August 2026, inviting visitors to explore one of Somerset's most unique nature and education sites.
The event will showcase how a former landfill site has been transformed into a thriving centre for environmental education, community engagement and wildlife conservation. Visitors can enjoy a packed programme of activities, including guided tours of the restored landfill, family pond dipping sessions, nature trails, and opportunities to try rural crafts such as scything and willow weaving.
Visitors can also explore Carymoor's eco-buildings, orchard and wildflower gardens, learn about the site's history, browse displays, purchase plants grown on site, and enjoy homemade cakes and refreshments in the café. The Fixy van will also be attending, giving visitors the opportunity to donate unwanted IT equipment and other technology for reuse or recycling. Plus, chat to their sponsors Biffa.
Two activities, Marvellous Minibeast family sessions and willow plate weaving workshops, have limited places and must be booked in advance. Advance booking is also required for entry to the Open Day.
The anniversary event offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate three decades of education, conservation and community involvement while enjoying a memorable day out in the Somerset countryside.
