Let’s Go Zero supports Somerset schools to cut carbon

Let's Go Zero logo with campaign slogan 'Schools working together to be zero carbon' promoting school climate action.

Let’s Go Zero is working with around 100 Somerset schools, helping them cut bills, access funding and create healthier, more nature-friendly places to learn.

The team would like to support more schools with free, bespoke advice to help them develop and deliver climate action plans.

Climate Action Advisors can help schools to:

  • Identify quick wins to reduce energy use and carbon impact
  • Explore building upgrades, options and routes to funding
  • Strengthen sustainability planning across multi-academy trusts
  • Connect with local and national organisations for further support
  • Share sustainability ideas with other local schools
  • Build a practical climate action plan that meets Department for Education expectations

Support can include:

  • In-person school visits to understand buildings, operations and priorities
  • One-to-one expert support through calls and online meetings
  • Staff CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and training on climate action and sustainability
  • Student engagement sessions with eco groups, school councils and pupils
  • Regular check-ins to review progress and maintain momentum
  • Networks and events offering regional opportunities, webinars and peer learning

Anyone in the school community can find out more and sign up for support through the Climate Action Advisor page.
