Cathy's situation

Cathy was referred to WfHE by her Employability Advisor in June 2024 for support with her mental health. During assessment Cathy stated that her son was going through a period of self destruction and facing criminal charges. Cathy felt lost and did not know what to do and how to move forward.

THe WfHE case manager decided to deliver additional sessions during the initial stages of engagement to make sure that Cathy felt she could trust the service, and to help them develop a strong therapeutic alliance.

Cathy would often become very upset during these appointments, stating that her situation was hopeless. She had already left her job due to the stress of caring for her son.

Cathy's goals

Cathy and her case manager collaborated to set Action Plan Goals centred around activity which would improve Cathy's quality of life, provide a meaningful purpose and ultimately  improve her mental wellbeing:

Cathy's support

Cathy met face to face with her case manager every fortnight in her local employability hub.  Her Case Manager used these resources to support her to improve her health:

The Case Manager also supported Cathy to engage in sessions offering help with financial wellbeing and finding volunteering opportunities with:

Cathy's results

In February 2025 Cathy started doing voluntary work, helping support young people.  She gained excellent feedback about her performance from the voluntary provider. This gave her added confidence and she was able to take on additional training sessions via this post.

Her wellbeing is vastly improved, as evidenced by the results of her clinical assessment. Cathy is now actively using strategies learned in her sessions to support her own mental wellbeing.

In July 2025 Cathy started a new job in Care.  She is enjoying her new role while using the recommendations made by her case manager to continue to prioritise her own wellbeing.
