Connect to Work now live in Somerset – employers invited to get involved

Connect to Work logo in purple text, with “Funded by UK Government” in black beneath on a white background.

Connect to Work is now live across Somerset, with a phased rollout having started on 18 May. We’re already receiving expressions of interest from local people who are keen to work and ready for the right opportunity.

As this interest grows, we’re now focused on working with employers across the county to turn that demand into real jobs.

Following a positive response at our recent employer event in Taunton, we’re building momentum and looking to connect with businesses who may be open to doing things a little differently when it comes to recruitment.

So, what does this mean for your business?

  • Access to a new and growing pool of Somerset-based candidates
  • Support with recruitment and matching people to your roles
  • Ongoing, practical in-work support to help employees settle and stay
  • A chance to fill vacancies while supporting local people into employment

We know many businesses are still facing recruitment challenges. Connect to Work offers a simple, supported route to help address those gaps while making a real difference locally.

We’ll be continuing the conversation at our next Unlock the Power of Inclusive Recruitment employer event on Thursday, 9 July, between 9am and 12pm at Yeovil Town Football Club, Brympton d'Evercy, Yeovil, and would welcome more Somerset businesses to get involved.

If you’re interested in finding out more, visit our Connect to Work page on the Step Up Somerset website. There, you’ll find an overview of the scheme, including how this free, voluntary Somerset programme supports people facing barriers to employment or helps them stay in work through personalised support. Employers can also access tailored recruitment help and practical support to build inclusive, sustainable workplaces.

Now is a great time to join as the programme gathers pace.
