Urgent call for Ukraine – energy sector support

Following the recent call from Minister for Trade Chris Bryant MP, we’re helping to coordinate humanitarian offers from Somerset businesses of equipment and technical solutions to help stabilise Ukraine’s essential heat, water, and electricity services, during what is expected to be a hard winter.

Ukraine’s energy sector is in a state of emergency because of Russian attacks, and urgently in need of vital infrastructure equipment.

The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office is urgently seeking the following assets:

  • First-Order (cogeneration units (CHP)): Modular boiler houses, modular gas turbine stations, and pump motors for thermal plants.
  • Second-Order: Backup diesel generators (for water/wastewater/district heating) and power transformers.
  • Used Equipment: Ukraine is ready to accept used equipment in good working condition as in-kind humanitarian donations.

If you have such equipment available to donate, please email the Department for Business and Trade (Kyiv) team at commercial.kyiv@fcdo.gov.uk.

As part of the UK collaboration agreement with the Ukrainian region of Vinnytsia, we’re committed to standing alongside our partners during an exceptionally challenging winter period. Ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure have placed immense pressure on essential heat, water, and power systems across the country.

UK Government has asked regions, businesses, and organisations to help source urgently needed equipment to keep vital services operating, and we’re assisting with these efforts.

This is an opportunity for the Somerset business community to provide practical, life-changing winter support to the people of Ukraine.
