Slinky Bus supports community transport options to reduce car use

A Slinky community transport minibus parked with its door open in a rural car park on a sunny day.

Our Slinky Service is a flexible, demand‑responsive community transport service, designed to help you get where you need to go while reducing reliance on private cars. By offering an easy, affordable alternative to driving, our Slinky service supports both local connectivity and our wider climate ambitions.

Whether you’re travelling for shopping, medical appointments, education or social activities, Slinky provides a vital link for areas with limited or no traditional bus routes. It’s available to everyone, helping to cut congestion and emissions across Somerset.

How it works

Bookable

Plan your journey up to 2 weeks in advance, or as little as 1 hour before you travel.

Flexible

Slinky uses existing bus stops, but home pick‑ups can be arranged for residents with limited mobility (just give us a call).

Digital or by phone

You can book through the Slinky app on the App Store or Google Play, via our website, or by phoning your local booking line.

Accessible to all

Anyone can use the service. If you’re over 16, you can join the app directly, and parents or guardians can book for younger dependants. Payments can be made using cash or contactless onboard.
