Over 3 action-packed weeks in September, we proudly delivered the Invest Somerset Showcase 2025, a series of 5 dynamic events tailored to our business community.
Aligned with the launch of our new Somerset Economic Prosperity Strategy 2025-2045, the Showcase was designed to spotlight the county’s most promising growth and innovation opportunities, while providing a platform for local enterprises to connect, learn, and flourish.
The programme saw strong engagement from businesses, partners, and innovators from across Somerset, with more than 200 organisations represented and a wealth of positive feedback generated.
Attendees benefited from expert insights, practical support, and networking opportunities that will fuel Somerset’s continuing economic success.

Low carbon energy
Hosted at the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre by South West Manufacturing Advisory Service (SWMAS), this session united businesses and projects spanning nuclear, battery production, and tidal energy.
Delegates explored Somerset’s leading role in the UK’s transition to clean energy and discovered new paths to collaboration.
Upskilling, reskilling and recruitment
Held with Sedgemoor Chamber in Bridgwater, this event addressed the importance of a skilled workforce.
Our Connect to Work programme took centre stage, offering employers practical advice on recruitment and skills development, including ways to access the county’s hidden workforce.
Supporting SMEs and VCSEs
At Shepton Mallet, over 60 businesses and social enterprises enjoyed expert-led sessions covering digital AI tools, free business support programmes, workforce development, and scaling strategies.
The event underscored the essential role of SMEs and VCSEs in Somerset’s economy, sharing success stories and best practice to inspire further growth.
Aerospace, future flight and high-value manufacturing
Sponsored by Leonardo and hosted at iAero in Yeovil, this session provided a deep dive into South Somerset’s world-class advanced manufacturing sector.
Attendees explored cutting-edge technologies including AI and digitisation, and learned how the region’s shaping the future of flight and defence.
Digital and data
In partnership with Tech South West, Taunton’s Firepool Centre for Digital Innovation welcomed business leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss how data, AI, and digital infrastructure are powering Somerset’s digital economy.
The event offered access to funding opportunities and the latest tech solutions, setting the stage for continued digital transformation.
