The Washington Recovery and Monitoring Program (WRAMP) offers a confidential path to recovery for healthcare professionals facing substance use challenges. This innovative program helps healthcare professionals maintain their careers while getting the support they need.

What WRAMP Does

WRAMP is a referral and monitoring program for credentialed healthcare professionals whose practice may be impaired by substance use. The program focuses on early identification and treatment of professionals experiencing alcohol and other drug problems while protecting public health and safety.

The program serves three key purposes:

• Ensures public health and safety from impaired practice
• Encourages and promotes recovery among healthcare professionals with substance use disorders
• Retains skilled practitioners by bringing professionals safely back to practice

How WRAMP Works

Professionals can enter WRAMP through voluntary self-referral or through referrals from employers, colleagues, family, friends, and healthcare providers. The program may also be part of a disciplinary process or required upon application for a healthcare credential.

WRAMP creates individualized contracts that include:

• Comprehensive evaluation from a certified substance use disorder treatment provider and following all treatment recommendations
• Random drug testing through a contracted third-party service
• Peer support groups and other recovery-oriented activities
• Worksite monitoring to ensure the professional can practice safely
