Parks and Recreation Employee of the Quarter Award Winner

The department recognizes staff on a quarterly basis who not only exemplify the Pima County Core Values of Accountable, Respectful and Ethical but also demonstrate “exceptional performance” that exceeds their normal day-to-day job-related duties.

This quarter, I would like to formally congratulate Mr. Troy French, Custodian, as the PR Employee of the Quarter for Apr – Jun 2025

Troy keeps our Parks and Rec headquarters facility clean, sanitized and glistening. When he’s working near your office, you can always count on a friendly, quick chat about U of A sports, comics, movies, heavy metal bands, concerts, or just about any topic! Moreover, when you ask Troy to do something outside his regular duties--he always steps up with a can-do attitude and smile!

The Recreation Division recently had contractors reconfigure their cubicles, computers and phones. Some of the work was below par, so we asked him to rectify some issues make a few more changes. Always resourceful, Troy found the needed parts and hardware, and fulfilled the request.

Observing his skillful capabilities, a decision was made to manipulate all the cubicles on the Park Operations side of the first floor. Troy was first asked to help create a larger workspace in the Administrative Assistant area. This would allow for more computers to be installed for the Park’s field staff to utilize. Next, he was tasked to expand the storage/file cubicles. Finally, he was given some liberties to create larger workstations for the Park Coordinators office. Working with management, Troy delivered on creating 5 new spacious workstations. This much needed expansion will allow for future growth with adequate room for new staff.

Troy has a reputation for getting the job done! Additionally, he has a willingness to do whatever is asked of him. During this quarter, Troy completed his daily core duties and periodically carved out time to reconfigure all the cubicles for the Park Operations Division. Most importantly, Troy’s work prevented a financial expenditure had the department decided to contract the work.

Without a doubt, Troy has taken great pride in his work going above and beyond the expected normal day-to-day duties. Great job Troy and thank you for keeping the HQ building sparkling!
