Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Plan

Shepton Mallet Neighourhood Plan

The Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Plan has been developed by the Town Council over a number of years, working with the community.  Extensive consultation was carried out in 2014, 2023 and 2024.

The Plan was submitted to us in October 2024. In line with the legislation, it was subject to Independent Examination. The Examiner’s Report was received on 22 April 2025. The report concluded that a modified Plan, in accordance with the Examiner’s recommendations, could proceed to referendum.

A referendum will be arranged. If more than 50% of those voting agree, it will become part of the Development Plan for the area and used in planning application decision making.

The Plan contains 17 policies covering housing, transport, green space, the environment, town centre, health and community. It allocates a site for development West of Cannard’s Grave Road and designates 14 Local Green Spaces across the town.
