With Wave 6 of our DfE-funded Skills Bootcamps programme due to start from 1 April, it’s a good time to look at the positive effect it’s had on businesses and individuals over the last year.

To date, the programme has allocated 654 learner places to training providers across Somerset and Dorset, with the total likely to be 84% of the allocation by the end of this month. 205 learners have completed training and undertaken an interview, of which 184 have secured either a new job, contract or responsibilities, with a further 330 similar outcomes projected before September this year. In total, 118 businesses of varying sizes have engaged with our Skills Bootcamps either by employing a learner or upskilling their own employees.

The programme has delivered bespoke training across both regions, including:

  • Leadership and Management
  • CAD and Additive Manufacturing, Factory 4.0
  • Application of AI for Business, Machining
  • Electrical Inspection
  • HGV Novice to Class 1, Novice to Class 2 and Upgrade from Class 2 to Class 1
  • Hospitality
  • Fabrication and Welding
  • Scaffolding Erector
  • HVAC
  • Caulking
  • Early Years
  • Marketing Essentials and Mastering Frontline Customer Engagement

The bespoke nature of the training provided means that businesses can train their staff with the exact skills they require, whilst individuals receive the training employers want leading to more job outcomes.
