11 Neighbourhood Plans in progress across our community

Neighbourhood Plan covers for Norton St Philip, Cannington, Shepton Mallet and Ilminster parishes.

Neighbourhood Planning provides an opportunity for communities to take a leading role in planning their local area. This can be done through a Neighbourhood Development Plan, often referred to as a:

Neighbourhood Plan (NP),
a Neighbourhood Development Order,
or a Community Right to Build Order.

There are currently 11 Neighbourhood Plans progressing in our Local Planning Authority Area:

Cannington Neighbourhood Plan is at Examination. The Independent Examiner has provided an initial opinion on the evidence supporting Policy ENV01 and DEV02 and concluded that elements of the policies would fail the Basic Conditions test.
Norton St Philip Neighbourhood Plan is at Examination.
Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Plan is at Examination.
Ilminster Neighbourhood Plan Examination has concluded and the Town Council is progressing amendments to their NP in line with the Examiners recommendations so that a Referendum can be held.
Oake Parish Council are preparing to submit their NP to us.
Hatch Beauchamp Parish Council have completed Regulation 14 and are reviewing their NP for submission to us.
Beckington Neighbourhood Plan: The Parish Council is preparing for Regulation 14 consultation of their draft NP.
Martock Parish Council is undertaking a review of their 2021 Neighbourhood Plan.
Keinton Mandeville Parish Council is progressing a plan.
Barton St David Parish Council is progressing a plan.
North Curry Parish Council is progressing its evidence base and draft policies for a NP.
