Thursday 26 December Saturday 28 December
Friday 27 December Sunday 29 December
Wednesday 1 January Thursday 2 January
Thursday 2 January Friday 3 January
Friday 3 January Saturday 4 January

Recycling site opening

All 16 recycling sites will be open during their usual winter hours over Christmas and New Year, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Wrapping paper

There will be dedicated ‘pre-sorting areas’ for wrapping paper at each recycling site – please don’t add it to the cardboard skips.

Make sure you know what can and can’t be recycled – try the scrunch test!

  • Step 1: Scrunch the wrapping paper into a tight ball.
  • Step 2: Open your hand to see if the paper stays scrunched together or bounces back open.
  • Step 3: If the paper stays scrunched in a ball, then you know it can be recycled. If it bounces back open then it likely contain foil or plastic and it can't be recycled.

Garden waste collection subscribers

Garden collections will be suspended from Wednesday, 25 December.

If you're a subscriber to our garden waste service, leave your tree, decoration-free, in your garden waste bin for collection – as long as it's no taller than 6ft.

Collections will resume Wednesday, 8 January.

Clinical waste collections

Clinical waste collections will follow the same revised collection pattern as recycling and rubbish (see table above).
