Businesses across Somerset are invited to find out more about supply chain opportunities at the Agratas battery cell facility near Bridgwater.

From cleaning to catering, steelwork to landscaping; a supplier event is being run by Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM), Agratas’ primary contractor for construction of the first of 3 proposed buildings at the Gravity site in Puriton.

Taking place at the Canalside Conference Centre in Bridgwater on Tuesday, 8 October 2024 between 8am to 12pm, it’s aimed at Somerset-based small or medium-sized business interested in working in or with the construction sector.

Spaces are limited and attendees must register in advance via Agratas/SRM’s Eventbrite page.

Any business working in these sectors which has already registered an interest with Agratas will be contacted by SRM to encourage attendance. Nearly 200 businesses have registered so far and well over half are Somerset-based.

Further expressions of interest in supply chain opportunities are welcomed and can be made using Agratas’ online ROI form.

The Agratas development represents a massive £4bn of investment in the county, with the potential to create up to 4,000 permanent jobs, many of them highly skilled and paid.

The event will be a chance to hear more about the project and potential opportunities for local businesses in the construction phase.

This first event will focus on sectors including catering, office cleaning, temporary electrics (during site set up), signage, soft landscaping and gardening.

Agratas is a new global battery business within the Tata Group and is developing the manufacturing facility having bought part of the site from This is Gravity Ltd (TIGL).

The site benefits from Enterprise Zone (EZ) status and a Local Development Order (LDO) which together provide a range of incentives to attract and support businesses, including a simplified and commercially flexible planning regime.
