Welcome to OGEC's new Investigator, Josh Sullivan! We're excited to announce the addition of Josh Sullivan to our team as an Investigator. Tell us a little about your background, such as education and job experience. I grew up in a small town in Oregon. I’m lucky to still live here in the Pacific Northwest. I went to school at Western Oregon University, where I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. I joined the Army as a Cryptologic Linguist and spent two years on active duty learning and using the Korean language. I spent four more years in the National Guard while I worked as a Corrections Deputy at the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office. I transferred to the patrol division and spent a total of seven years at the Sheriff’s Office before coming to OGEC. What inspired you to apply for OGEC? I think OGEC plays a very important role in educating public officials and investigating ethics violations. The reason why I first pursued a career in law enforcement was because I wanted a job where I could use my skills to hold people accountable for their actions and serve my community. I am able to do these things in a new way at the Oregon Government Ethics Commission. And I enjoy investigations and writing reports on my findings. What is your favorite part of your job here? Everyone I work with is helpful and supportive, and passionate about what they do. Also, I like that OGEC focuses on educating public officials to proactively prevent ethics issues. Dogs or cats? Dogs. I have 2 (and a cat) Favorite color? Green Favorite movie? Inception Any hobbies or passions that you would care to share or talk about? Anything outdoors (sometimes the Oregon weather makes this difficult). Camping, running, biking, hiking, kayaking, tennis, CrossFit, watching soccer, gardening, reading, home projects, being active and learning new things. We hope you enjoyed getting to know Josh more - we look forward to working with him and seeing the positive impact he will make on our organization. Return to Ethics Matters Newsletter |
