FNS Dr. Cotwright Hosts a MyPlate Listening Session in Atlanta, GA

Dr. Caree Cotwright, FNS' Director of Nutrition Security and Health Equity, worked in collaboration with the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy (CNPP) team to organize a SERO MyPlate Regional Listening Session. MyPlate replaced the Food Guide Pyramid, which was made before the internet. With the advancement of technology, MyPlate takes what we’ve learned from the Food Pyramid and now provides a personalized approach to healthy eating to help you meet your goals.

This event took place at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, located in Atlanta, Georgia. The session provided stakeholders with guidance on utilizing MyPlate to bolster nutrition education and promote health equity.

Should you wish to discuss your achievements, challenges, and suggestions for establishing MyPlate as a familiar term in households, please reach out to Dr. Cotwright via email at Caree.Cotwright@usda.gov. Contributions from Patrick Leahy Farm to School program recipients and members of the wider local food systems community are highly encouraged.

MyPlate has a variety of free tools and resources to meet your unique needs.
