A big welcome to OGEC's new Administrative Specialist 2!

We are excited to be growing and recently added a new Admin Specialist 2 to our team, Molly Putnam. Read on to learn more about her and what brought her to the team:

Tell us a little about your background, such as education and job experience.

I graduated from Oregon State University in 2019 with a BS in Animal Science, but elected to pursue Criminal Justice after entering the work force. I did a year stint at the Linn County DA's office on a part-time basis, and then went full time at the Lane County Sheriff's Office. I returned to the Linn County DA's Office as a Legal Assistant for almost 3 years before joining OGEC.

What inspired you to apply for OGEC?

In reviewing the history and mission statement, it seemed that the purpose of the Commission was to hold people accountable for their actions. This is not so different from my view on criminal prosecution and aligns with my values. It was also very encouraging to see the emphasis the Commission puts on education. Criminal prosecution is very reactive, and I believe education is a way to serve the citizens of Oregon in a more proactive way.

What is your favorite part of your job here?

I appreciate OGEC's collaborative environment. Having supportive and fun coworkers has made every day so far feel enjoyable. It's exciting to be part of a workplace that has such a positive atmosphere!

Dogs or cats?

I love both, but currently have 3 cats.

Favorite color?

Blue or green.

Favorite movie?

I'm a sucker for Disney/Pixar movies; Cars and Encanto are two of my favorites!

Any hobbies or passions that you would care to share or talk about?

I tend to be a jack-of-all-trades for hobbies! I have a flower garden as a spring/summer hobby, and hike in the cooler months (I detest wasps and am prone to heat exhaustion, so no summer hikes for me). Reading, sewing, gaming, and antique shopping are hobbies I enjoy year-round.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Molly more - we've loved getting to work with her and think she makes a great addition to our Administrative team.
