Flowers in a crystal vase given to volunteer teachers for serving as judges in a state-wide debate tournament would be considered honorarium. 

Now, what about the tokens of appreciation, ranging from hand-drawn thank you cards and flowers to gift cards or even cash, given to teachers by the parents of their students at the end of the school year?

Those would not be considered honorarium, as they are not being given in exchange for the teachers' services, but as tokens of appreciation (a gift).
