Step back to the Jurassic period and create your very own fossil replica in this fun, hands-on plaster of Paris workshop. Learn about the fossils found in Hamstone, the golden rock that forms Ham Hill, then make and paint a fossil of your own. The event will be held at The Hollow, the outdoor education zone. Meet at Ham Hill Visitor Centre 10 minutes before the start of the event. Aimed at children aged 6 and over.

Adult supervision is essential.

Carymoor Environmental Trust Open Day is a chance to explore a unique nature reserve created on a former landfill site and discover how, over the past 30 years, it has been transformed into a 100-acre haven for wildlife, learning and environmental education.

Visitors can enjoy site tours, family activities, rural skills demonstrations, stalls and a café, while finding out more about Carymoor’s work with schools and local communities. Tickets can be booked online in advance and include free parking, plus a complimentary drink and cake.

Join us for a family-friendly guided walk exploring Ham Hill’s distinctive golden Hamstone. Learn how Hamstone was formed from tropical shells and underwater Jurassic life, predating the T. rex by millions of years. This walk is aimed at children aged 9 and over and adults alike. Meet at Ham Hill Visitor Centre 10 minutes before the start. The route follows typical countryside terrain and is under 3 miles.
