Tell us a little about your background, such as education and job experience.

I have a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, a B.S. in Communications from Western Oregon University, and spent nearly four years working with the Oregon Employment Department as an Adjudicator prior to transitioning to an Ethics Investigator with OGEC.

What inspired you to apply for OGEC?

I was excited at the opportunity to work in a smaller agency, in a field that I’m passionate about, to help make Oregon a better place to live for everyone.

What is your favorite part of your job here?

My coworkers...and the snacks.

Any hobbies or passions that you would care to share or talk about?

Tell us a little about your background, such as education and job experience.

I have lived in Oregon most of my life and currently live in Dundee (over seven years now). I am the oldest of four, and also the first person in my family to graduate high school and college. I have a B.S in Criminal Justice and experience in both the private and public sector. Retail banking was my first professional job right out of college and really pushed me out of my comfort zone. When you grow up being the quiet kid in school, you quickly learn that to succeed in banking, you must step out of your bubble and think outside the box. In the public sector I worked as a Bilingual Eligibility Specialist determining eligibility for many social programs such as food, cash, childcare, and domestic violence. Most recently, I was a Bilingual Case Manager for almost a year where I determined eligibility for Medicaid services such as in-home care, assisted living, nursing, and memory care among other services.

What inspired you to apply for OGEC?

I have always been fascinated with the law, the way that it’s constantly changing, and our responsibility to be cognizant of how it effects groups and individuals. I knew I wanted to be more involved in a position that would challenge and support my growth given my experience and education, and when I saw the position at OGEC I knew I had to apply. My analogy of the interview process would be like going through a rollercoaster. I genuinely had fun participating in the practice assignments and the more I learned about the position the more I knew it was exactly I wanted to do. Overall, I am genuinely excited to be a part of this team and 110% thankful for the opportunity.

What is your favorite part of your job here?

I don’t have one favorite part yet. But if I had to pick one thing, it would be hearing all the cases that have come up with the Ethics Commission over the years and how they turned out. Every single case is different which I really enjoy.

Dogs or cats?

Dogs all the way! #corgidad

Favorite color?

Blue.

Favorite movie?

The Conjuring - I love horror movies!

Any hobbies or passions that you would care to share or talk about?

Once I feel comfortable in my role, a passion of mine is finding ways to connect with the public and different organizations related to my job. For example, in my prior position as a Bilingual Case Manager I was a member of the Building Bridges Unidos (a coalition of community partners) that would meet once a month to talk about services and how to better connect with Latinos in the community. Before that, when I was in banking, I was a member of the Chehalem Valley Leadership Group where I got to meet local business owners, learn about their history, and how to network and look for opportunity as a banker. Outside of work I’m a big homebody especially with winter around the corner. Hobbies at the moment include: walking my dog, watching movies, reading, occasional painting, and being a couch potato.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Andrew and Daniel more - we've loved getting to work with them and think they make a great addition to our team of Investigators!
