City Managers Update

August 12, 2022

Hello,

It’s that time of year when children and parents begin to say goodbye to summer and prepare for the new school year. While not everyone has school-aged children, each of us has a part in keeping our children safe while they walk or ride to school. Traffic conditions change significantly when school is back in session, which can be frustrating for many, but drivers must realize that the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists is a top priority. So, when you encounter traffic slowdowns due to the additional children present before or after school, ensure that you do your part to guarantee the safety of everyone. Please be patient, slow down, and drive attentively!

Here are tips and reminders of laws related to buses and school zones.

The collective safety of our roadways depends on the individual choices we all make. I encourage you to take the We ❤ Safe Streets Pledge and promote it to your family and neighbors.

As we wrap up the summer, we look forward to the coming school year, the fall season of sporting events, and continuing the celebration of our City's 30th Anniversary. We had a great time earlier this week at the final Meet me in the Street Event. We are thankful for the dedication of the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce to organizing this successful series of events! We are all looking forward to next year already.

A few options are available if you've fallen behind on your City of American Canyon utility bill. Please complete the form here for any kind of extension, arrangement, or fee waiver. A federal Low Income Household Water Assistance Program provides financial assistance to low-income Californians to help manage their residential water utility costs. You can find the information here.

Lastly, thank you to our beloved teachers for everything you do, and best wishes for this coming year.

Take care,

Jason B. Holley
