The annual National VOAD Conference was held in the city of Baltimore, Maryland during the first week of May. After a two-year pause, hundreds of leaders from all 50 states and 6 territories were present for such an important celebration. Within the agenda were offered workshops, conferences, spaces to connect and the annual assembly of the organization. As part of PR VOAD's ongoing efforts to insert themselves into the conversation in the organization, the assembly elected several of PR VOAD's leaders to serve in various positions. Among them, we have our PR VOAD President, Rev. David Guadalupe EJ, who was elected by his fellow state and territory delegates to serve on the National VOAD Board of Directors as a member. This election became a historic moment as he was the first Latino and first delegate from a territory to be elected to serve on the national board.
Additionally, Deborah Vera was elected to serve on the DCM committee and Awilda Disla for the donations' committee. Right now, Puerto Rico VOAD has space on the committees of DCM, Emotional and Spiritual Care, Donations and the International Committee. The PRVOAD hopes to fill some additional spaces in other important committees so that Puerto Rico can contribute from our experience.
