Meet the New Fire Marshal Nicole Pesqueira        

Nicole Pesqueira started her career with the City of Placentia in Community Services working part-time as a community services leader. Four years later, she was promoted to a full-time position in the City Clerk’s Office while finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton.

In 2008, Pesqueira was offered a promotion within the City of Orange City Clerk’s Office. During her time there, she worked part-time in Finance and Fire to help them stay afloat during the recession. It was while working in Fire she learned about Fire Prevention. Pesqueira decided to pursue a career as a fire inspector and attended Santa Ana College where she received Associate’s degrees in Fire Prevention and Fire Public Education.

Soon after, Nicole was hired by the Pasadena Fire Department as a fire inspector. Two years later, she received a promotional opportunity with the Brea Fire Department as a Fire Prevention Specialist II where she spent the last six years. During her time as an inspector, Nicole has received certifications as a Fire Inspector 1 & 2, Plans Examiner, Fire Investigator 1, Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator, and Hazardous Materials Technician.

She is a registered instructor with the Office of the State Fire Marshal and teaches inspector courses throughout the state of California.

Pesqueira has served on the Orange County Fire Prevention Officers’ board and is now a past president. She’s currently the Secretary for the Southern California Fire Prevention Officer’s Executive board and their Fire Service Education Committee Co-chair.

She worked with ICC’s mentorship program to help those interested in a job in fire prevention. Pesqueira was published for her participation in the 2019 ICC California Fire Code Amendments Handbook.

In her free time, she teaches Fire Technology courses at Santa Ana College.

Pesqueira enjoys volunteering with dog rescues, fostering dogs, and traveling and snowboarding.
