Late fee

You must renew your registration every 3 years if you wish to continue to act as a landlord. Failure to renew your existing registration after being sent two reminders from the local authority will result in a late fee of £133. The late fee also applies to unregistered landlords who have received two requests to register from the local authority.

Please note: Joint owners must register and/or renew in their own right. A lead owner cannot apply to be registered or renew an existing registration on behalf of other owners. If a second or subsequent owner fails to renew their registration in time the late fee will be payable.

You must keep your contact details up to date as this information will be used to remind you to renew your registration at 3 months and 1 month before your current registration expires.

You can renew your registration anytime in the 3 months before it expires. Once approved this will automatically start a new 3 year period from the date your current registration ends.

Late fees don't have any discount applied.

Property Management

If you use a letting agent to manage your property they should be registered on the

Letting Agent Register

If someone else manages your property who is not a letting agent, such as a family member or power of attorney, they will need to register with the local authority on the Landlord Register as an agent. The same principal fee and discounts apply to anyone who manages your property who is not a letting agent.

If your agent is not registered or has not submitted an application to be registered, you will be liable for the fee as part of your application.

How to pay

You can pay online using a debit or credit card. If you register through your local authority please consult with them for payment options.
