National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. The City’s dedicated Animal Services staff and volunteers are on site 365 days a year feeding, cleaning, grooming, walking, vaccinating, microchipping, neutering, training, and frequently nurturing animals who enter the Tri-City Animal Shelter for care. This year the shelter has cared for nearly 2,000 animals! Shelter staff has come up with a list of things the community can do to help show the team some appreciation.
- Spread the word about our shelter. We've only been on social media (Facebook, IG, Twitter, and Nextdoor) since late 2017, so anything to help get the word out about the work we do and the animals we have available for adoption, would make a huge impact.
- Have you adopted from us? Nothing makes the team happier than an update on you and your pet!
- Donating to the animals is so heartwarming for our team, truly. We even have some ideas of homemade kitten toys that use recycled products you may have at home.
- Ensure your pet is microchipped and your contact information is updated. Additionally, plan for your pet in case of a medical emergency or natural disaster. Make sure your pet also wears a tag. Taking these steps help reduce the strain on our team.
- Help each other by spaying or neutering. It is helpful to your pet's physical and mental wellbeing; it also prevents unwanted litters. Help each other on social media by spreading the word about animals we have found, post them on Nextdoor.
