NLM Strategic Communications Plan Update

The Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL) has been working on the NLM Strategic Communications Plan - promoting one-NLM and communicating about our work, offices/divisions, services, and products in a more consistent and unified way.

This quarter, OCPL is performing an environmental scan and gathering content related to how we describe NLM divisions/offices, products, and services. In addition to pulling information from the NLM Portfolio Analysis, OCPL has engaged the Strategic Planning Implementation Council Communications Subgroup who will serve as liaisons with their divisions and offices.

Communications Subgroup members include:

If you have message examples about your division/office, products, or services please send them to NLMcommunications@nlm.nih.gov.  We will continue to provide quarterly updates on the plan.

Ethics Reminder

Ethics & Contractors

All the contract bids are in. One of the bidders asks to take you out to lunch. 1) Is this a gift you can accept? 2) How would this look to an outsider?

As a federal government employee, you have been placed in a position of trust and are held to a high standard of ethical conduct. You should decline the lunch, as the timing creates the appearance that the bidder is seeking to influence official contract decisions.

For more information on the ethics laws regarding working with contractors, please contact the NLM Ethics Specialist, Amy Powers at amy.powers@nih.gov / 301-496-6191, or click here
