The Fremont Housing Navigation Center (HNC) is proud to announce that in its first six months of operations, none of its participants have returned to homelessness. While operating under reduced capacity because of COVID-19, the HNC served 44 individuals in its first six months (21 of which have transitioned into permanent housing while the rest actively participate in the program). Of the 21 participants who have moved to other housing, eight have been reunited with family and 13 moved into independent or shared housing agreements.

Operated by Bay Area Community Services (BACS) and the City of Fremont, the HNC opened its doors on September 28, 2020 to 25 residents who stayed on average for four months. There have been no significant complaints, serious calls for police service, or visible blight because of the HNC to date.

In addition, BACS has developed new connections with 19 local landlords (12 of which are located in Fremont). The HNC has received monetary donations from the community totaling $40,346 and many in-kind donations.

With vaccinations becoming more prevalent in the community and the decrease of COVID-19 cases, staff are hopeful that HNC occupancy will increase, possibly to full capacity of 45 residents, within the next six months. Read the HNC 6-month report.
