Earth Day is here, and there are many ways you can safely celebrate. Throughout the month of April, the City's partner organizations are hosting engaging workshops on a variety of topics. The City is also sharing information about simple actions you can take at home to tackle climate change. For a list of events, actions, and resources, please visit the City’s Earth Day webpage. In this video message, Fremont Mayor Lily Mei shares her "Happy Earth Month" message to the community and introduces a local Fremont student, the City's very own youth commissioner Shreya Ramachandran, making a difference.

As you celebrate Earth Day and help create a vibrant, safe, and healthy future for Fremont, we hope you can join us at this weekend’s tree planting at Sabercat Historical Park. Details include: Greenkeepers, a student-run nonprofit organization from Fremont is dedicated to raising awareness and creating environmental solutions for a greener future and its objectives match the City’s commitment to preservation and growth of the City’s urban forest. This year, Greenkeepers proposed a meaningful project idea: Hosting a tree planting project as a tribute to those who have lost their battle against COVID-19. After months of planning, fundraising, and working through details to conduct a safe event, the City of Fremont, Greenkeepers, in collaboration with, Tri-City Urban Forest Alliance (TUFA), a Fremont-based community organization, will be conducting a tree planting project this weekend at the Sabercat Historical Park, Creek Site Entrance #4, on the corner of Paseo Padre Parkway and Quema Drive. The planting activities have already had two successful plantings on April 3 and April 17. Join us for the final planting on Saturday, April 24 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event will take place over several days in order to adhere to COVID-19 protocols, including safety, physical distancing, proper worksite hygiene, as well as the make-up, size, and coordination of the activities of each cohort.

Happy Earth Day, Fremont!
