NYS Department of Labor

Dear New Yorker:

Our records indicate that you have reached or will soon reach your Unemployment Insurance (UI) Benefit Year Ending (BYE) date. As of now, our records indicate you have either not worked for an employer since filing your initial unemployment claim in 2020 OR have worked but have not earned ten times your benefit rate. This means you may continue to receive Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) or Extended Benefits (EB) after your BYE date on your existing claim.

To continue receiving benefits if you are still unemployed, you must continue submitting your weekly certifications. You do not have to call the DOL or reapply for benefits.

Please note that if you are currently unemployed, but you DID return to work since filing your claim in 2020 AND you HAVE earned ten times your benefit rate since filing your claim in 2020, you MUST file a new unemployment claim using our alphabetical filing system.

  • To file a claim online: Go to labor.ny.gov/signin and click “File a Claim”
  • To file a claim through NYS DOL’s automated phone service: Call the Telephone Claims Center at 888-209-8124

For more information, visit on.ny.gov/bye.

Thank you.
