NYS Department of Labor

Dear New Yorker:

Thank you for your patience. We have determined that your unemployment insurance (UI) claim can now be paid. If you have not already, you will soon receive a letter in the mail telling you how much you will receive each week. If you provided bank account information, your benefits will be deposited there. If you did not provide bank account information, you will receive a debit card from KeyBank by mail within three weeks.

It is important that you continue to certify every week to claim your benefits.

You can certify for weekly benefits in one of two ways:

  • The easiest way is online. Please go to www.labor.ny.gov/signin and sign into your account. From your "Account Overview" page, click on the "Unemployment Services" button, then "Certify to Claim Your Weekly Benefits Here” and follow the instructions. It is important that you continue to do this every week.
  • You can also certify for weekly benefits by phone at 888-581-5812.

Reminder: We encourage you to review your records and, if necessary, adjust your tax withholdings. You can change your tax withholding option on the DOL website. Doing this could help you avoid a tax bill in 2021. For more information, please click here.

On September 5, 2021, several federal unemployment benefit programs and extensions expired across the country, per federal law. UI benefits are currently available to eligible New Yorkers for 26 weeks, or 104 effective days. For more information, visit dol.ny.gov/fedexp.

Thank you.
