Dear New Yorker:
We are continuing to work on your unemployment insurance (UI) application and are determining the amount of benefits you will receive.
To receive weekly UI benefits, you must certify your eligibility for benefits each week. You will soon be required to certify for your first week of benefits. To do so, you must certify beginning the Sunday after you filed your claim through the following Saturday.
Please note: If you are reapplying for benefits and have already certified this week, please disregard this message. Continue to certify weekly while you are unemployed.
You can certify in one of two ways:
- The easiest way is online. Go to www.labor.ny.gov/signin and sign into your account. From your "My Online Services" page, click on the "Unemployment Services" button, then "Certify to Claim Your Weekly Benefits Here" and follow the instructions.
- You can also certify for weekly benefits through NYS DOL’s automated certification line at 888-581-5812.
More information on certifying for benefits can be found at on.ny.gov/certify.
When your status changes, the next message you will receive is that your claim is ready to be paid. Please be assured that you will receive all the benefits you are eligible for.
As a reminder, on September 5, 2021, several federal unemployment benefit programs and extensions expired across the country, per federal law. For more information, visit dol.ny.gov/fedexp.
Thank you.
